This Privacy Policy explains how Fishsabi collects, accesses, uses, stores and discloses information when you use the Fishsabi website or mobile application (“App”).

When you create an account or join our waitlist, we may collect:

1.2 Precise Location Data (GPS Coordinates)

Fishsabi is a location-based fishing analytics application. To provide its core functionality, the App collects precise location data (GPS coordinates) from your device.

How Location Is Accessed

Location data is accessed through your device’s operating system permission framework (e.g., Android or iOS location services).
Location is collected only after you grant permission.

When Location Is Collected

  • Location data is collected while the App is actively in use (foreground use only).

  • Fishsabi does not collect background location data when the App is closed, unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires background tracking.

What Location Data May Include

  • Real-time GPS coordinates

  • Time-stamped fishing session locations

  • Location linked to logged catch and effort records

Why Location Is Collected

Location data is used to:

  • Generate Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) grid analysis

  • Produce heatmaps and spatial performance insights

  • Deliver predictive fishing analytics

  • Visualise fishing activity patterns

  • Improve modelling accuracy and system performance

Precise location data is essential for the core functionality of the App. Disabling location permissions will limit App performance.

1.3 Fishing Activity Data

The App may collect:

  • Catch records

  • Fishing effort tracking

  • Session duration

  • Grid cell interaction data

  • Performance analytics

This data may be associated with your account.

1.4 Device and Technical Data

We may collect:

  • Device model

  • Operating system version

  • App interaction data

  • Crash diagnostics

  • Technical usage analytics

This data is used to improve performance and reliability.

1.5 Website Data

When you visit our website, we may collect:

  • IP address

  • Browser type

  • Website interaction data via cookies

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and operate the Fishsabi App

  • Deliver spatial modelling and predictive analytics

  • Improve performance and functionality

  • Respond to support enquiries

  • Send service-related communications

We do not sell personal information or precise location data.

3. Data Sharing

We may share information only with:

  • Cloud hosting providers

  • Analytics providers

  • Technical service providers

These providers are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Some providers may be located outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We may use aggregated or de-identified spatial data to improve system modelling and performance.

4. Storage, Retention & Identity Linkage

Location data and fishing activity data:

  • May be stored securely on Fishsabi servers

  • May be linked to your user account

  • Are retained only as long as necessary to provide services or comply with legal obligations

Users may request deletion of their account and associated data by contacting us.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information.

Data is transmitted using secure encryption protocols.

However, no system can guarantee absolute security.

6. User Control

You may:

  • Grant or deny location permissions through your device settings

  • Revoke location access at any time

  • Request access to your personal data

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your account

Disabling location permissions will reduce core App functionality.

7. Children

Fishsabi is not directed at individuals under 13 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be published with a revised effective date.
